Contentious Probate, Elderly Client Abuse & Court of Protection

Bell & Buxton has a highly experienced team specialising in the field of financial abuse of elderly people. This is a highly complicated area of law which requires specialist input as early as possible.

We are also able to advise on disputed Wills, disputes arising in the course of the administration of a deceased person’s estate, in the administration of a trust and in relation to claims made against an estate.

A person who is mentally incapable may still have a number of financial and other affairs which need to be looked after. The Court of Protection exists to oversee matters such as these and Bell & Buxton offers unrivalled expertise in this area of law.

Senior Partner, Mary Butler, is a panel receiver to the Court and is authorised to act as a receiver for an incapacitated person where no other suitable person can be identified. We are also able to help if an Enduring Power of Attorney needs to be registered at the Court or if a dispute has arisen regarding such a Power.

Mary was awarded Private Client Lawyer of the Year at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards 2006, and is registered as a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists
