Bell & Buxton hold memorial for the late Mary Butler.

On 24th September, Bell & Buxton held a memorial for the late Mary Butler, who sadly passed away in June, celebrating her life in a style of which Mary would have approved.

A key part of the firm, Mary was renowned for her integrity, tenacity and legal acumen, and was well-loved personally for her compassion, care and friendship.

As Senior Partner and Head of Contentious Probate at Bell & Buxton Solicitors, Mary was recognised as a leading lawyer in the field with over 25 years of experience.

The memorial was a reflective and touching event, with music from Mount St Mary’s Community Choir and memories shared by several who knew Mary professionally. Our thanks to the Choir, as well as Jessica King (President of Sheffield & District Law Society), Pete Sorsby (Investment Director at Mercia Asset Management), Mark Keeley (Partner at Freeth, ACTAPS Council Member), Carol McBride (Director SFE) and Robert Little (Tribunal Judge) for their kind words.

Associate Solicitor at Bell & Buxton, John Breeze, gave a small poignant speech when introducing one of our invited speakers. John, now Head of Will, Trust & Inheritance Disputes, and fellow Solicitor Katie Winslow, continue to progress this niche area of law and follow in Mary’s footsteps. They are passionate advocates for the profession, having learnt from the best.
