Legal 500 Recognition for Bell & Buxton

Bell & Buxton Solicitors have again been recognised in the prestigious Legal 500 guide to leading law firms in the UK.

Research undertaken by the Legal 500 acknowledges the firms’ expertise in family law, private client work including wills & probate and inheritance and will disputes, and corporate and commercial law.

In our Will, Trust and Inheritance Disputes team, associate solicitor and head of department John Breeze is highlighted as a Rising Star. The guide notes his work handling high value claims under the Inheritance Act 1975, the revocation of fraudulently obtained Grants of Representation and defending wills subject to challenge based on undue influence. Reference is also made to work covering contentious attorneyship matters such as claims against a deceased’s estate for pre-death breaches of trust and those relating to professional negligence. Clients have described the department as:

‘An excellent boutique team which punches well above its weight in the Yorkshire market and offers a better value alternative to the bigger, longer-established private client firms. Very friendly and down-to-earth.’

‘The team at Bell & Buxton are a friendly and approachable group who will always look out for their clients’ best interests. They are willing to negotiate and reach solutions for their clients as amicably as possible.’

‘The practice has lawyers who provide genuine expertise and those lawyers also provide clear legal advice and assistance.’

Partner and Head of Family Law, Demelza Wrigley is noted for her team’s work as highly regarded for its expertise in matters where couples are not married and is particularly strong in domestic abuse, civil partnership breakdown and LGBT relationships. In addition, the practice covers divorce, child custody, non-molestation orders, emergency funding and court applications for maintenance pending suit.

Amongst our services for businesses, led by Partner Alex Ross, the firm is acknowledged for advising businesses on partnership matters, shareholder agreements, corporate finance work and also advising across M&A and management buy-outs. Solicitor Charlotte Higgins is also recognised for her healthcare-related corporate work.

Partner Charles Neal observed, “Within the guide, Bell & Buxton are described as ‘friendly and approachable’ and ‘lawyers who provide genuine expertise, clear legal advice and assistance’ which is pleasing feedback from the Legal 500’s research as this simply reflects the key objectives of our client first approach”.
