Mary Butler, Senior Partner at Bell & Buxton has been awarded the prestigious and highly sought after ACTAPS ‘Contentious Solicitor of the Year’ award.
The accolade, given by the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (a niche professional group) is judged by a panel of industry experts and decided from a peer-nominated shortlist of nationwide hopefuls. Mary is at the forefront of her field and trusted by colleagues and clients alike for her experience, knowledge, and skill in handling complex contentious inheritance matters, including helping families and loved ones to bring challenges against Estates where they feel that the Deceased’s wishes have not been met, or they have been unfairly treated following a death. We are widely renowned in the field of Contentious Trusts and Probate and disputed inheritance and are recognised by the Legal 500 - a national and international barometer of law firms. Mary herself has also been the recipient of awards previously for her work in the area, including twice winning Yorkshire Private Client Lawyer of the Year.
Mary said of the award: “I was thrilled to be nominated in the first place by my colleagues and peers, but actually to win feels wonderful. I’m remarkably proud to accept this award; the team at Bell & Buxton is superb and together we use all of our skills and knowledge to try to achieve justice in what are often emotionally fraught and extremely distressing circumstances. I am privileged to have such fantastic colleagues and tenacious clients, and to be recognised by winning this award is truly humbling.”
