Meet The Team

Bell and Buxton Solicitors undertake Notary work for businesses in Sheffield and the surrounding areas. Partner and Solicitor, Charles Neal is one of only a very small number of qualified Notaries in the UK who have an additional qualification and are appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury to carry out this work.

During the new lockdown we will continue to work remotely wherever possible. However, our offices will be open should it be necessary to visit to deliver documents or to see any of our solicitors. Please make sure that you make an appointment for any visit as we need to limit the number of visitors to our offices at any one time and ensure that they and our staff are safe.

Where possible we will arrange virtual meetings by video conference/telephone with our clients and others when appropriate. If you want to talk to one of our solicitors or need legal advice please contact us and we will do all that we can to assist. Please bear with us if it takes a little longer than usual to reply to you.

Anyone visiting us at our offices will need to wear a face covering and follow all the government guidance regarding social distancing.

Charles has many years’ experience of helping clients who need official documents certifying for use overseas. This is because Notaries are recognised internationally, whereas Solicitors are not.

Our Notarial services for businesses include:

  • Authenticating acts of a Company, Partnership or other business entity in relation to a business abroad whether this be setting up a satellite office, company or partnership
  • Authenticating the existence of an English business entity and its status particularly in relation to insolvency and administration documentation
  • Certifying and authenticating the authority of Directors, Partners and Members of English business entities
  • Drawing up Powers of Attorney for companies and other business entities to authorise people and entities abroad to act on behalf of the English business entity
  • Witnessing the signing of an affidavit or statutory declaration by officers of a business
  • Witnessing or carrying out other operations relating to foreign bonds and debenture stock for a business
  • Authenticating and providing a secure record of a transaction, document or event
  • Legalisation of documents
